The King George County Service Authority Board of Directors opened their first meeting of 2020 at 6:43pm. Within a short ten minutes, they completed their short Agenda.
Cathy Binder was elected as Chair and Annie Cupka was elected as Vice Chair. Dr. Neiman Young, County Administrator, was elected as the Board's Secretary and Treasurer. They approved a meeting calendar that mirrored the previously agreed upon schedule for the Supervisors and added the same July 14, 2020 meeting date. They also agreed to meet earlier in the evening at 5:30pm. The Board approved their standard Rules and Ethics documents and there was no Public Comment.
James "Jim" Morris (Dahlgren District) did not have a report but did thank everyone for the opportunity and looked forward to working with everyone.
Allen Parker (James Madison District) said something similar and added that he was happy to serve.
Annie Cupka (At Large District) simply said she was happy to be here and was happy to serve with everyone.
Cathy Binder (Shiloh District) began her report then apologized and asked if Mike Bennett (James Monroe District) had anything to report. Bennett, who was participating remotely, said he did not. Binder continued her short report by saying she thinks the Service Authority will continue to turn in the right direction.
The County Attorney pro tempore, Eric Gregory, had no report and the Consent Agenda was approved.
Jonathon Weakley, General Manager, said he had no report this evening but promised to have a lot to talk about at the next meeting. He then welcomed all of the new members and told them there were plenty of new projects going on and looked forward to his one-on-one meetings with them. Weakley said he would give them some background information as well as details on current projects. He said at the next meeting he would like to discuss dates for budget work sessions.
